Qin Chen is moderate and never absolute. Don't get me wrong, this novel is one of my favorites.

Tan Yun and Qin chen do not live in the same universe. So kill comparison does not.l make any sense at all.

In about 20-40 or so episodes, TY will kill 5000 disciples (in mere minute. less than 1 episode) of other sects in first trial. There will only be 2 survivors which can't be killed unless he provoked sect war.

And this is just his first ultra small scale massacre in his path. Later (just one of examples), he goes to exterminate city where clan of one of supreme resides where there are 100 million people or so. Massacre is absolute with zero survivors to the point he even exterminates all animals like dogs and birds in order to not leave a living witness. Whole town is massacred in period of half a day.

At the end he exterminates whole hostile regions of enormous size far bigger than that city

yep Against the Sky Supremes' MC def got a ridiculous body count already and he has not even started mass exterminations yet....Def has the most single handed bodies in any donghua I have watched.....he kills at least one person every few Episodes...if it wsnt a short he would def be killing at least one person an episode most the time he kills like two to three or five of a strong opponents men before the main coarse lol and its more realistic because its not always easy for him and he gets fcked up a lot where this Mc just dominates and hardly gets hurt at all

Only comparable MC is probably Su Yi (Jiandao Di Yi Xian), but he is too lazy and only kills when enemies come at him unlike Tan Yun who actively searches for massacre opportunity. His body count might not be impressive as Tan Yun, but his are actually even more fun to read. He simply has unique lazy/sadistic charisma. That MC really makes the novel one of the best I've ever read.

Well, as far as Qin Chen domination goes. It is not without good cause in the novel. He was OP in his previous life where he was stuck before last Emperor stage and he compensated with artisan skills. In this life he is equipped with Transcendental level... everything (his Qi art, rusted sword, his OP like fuck bloodline...) and when you add his previous life artisan compensations and knowledge... Just to point out, even at 5300 chapter or so where novel is everything is still OP as fuck, especially rusted sword and bloodline. In fact the first point where someone recognizes his bloodline with horror is around ch.3000 and first point where you get minimal clues about sword is around 4500

He is attacking not because of what happened or for whom Qin Chen beat the shit out. He is attacking because the one trying to reason is Xiao Ya. Read spoiler on your own accord.

First a bit of history. Qin Chen in previous life was de facto nr.1 alchemist and they tried to get him to take reigns of pill pavilion for whole continent. Only problem was that he was not interested because he was also nr.1 in other 3 artisan crafts (artifact/formation/bloodline) and he was preoccupied by trying to find cure or solution for his congenital problems with waste bloodline and clogged meridians. He was stuck as Martial Sovereign with no way to achieve Martial Emperor. This is why pill pavilion barely persuaded him to be honorary elder. In this role he only accepted one disciple who became later the leader of continents pill pavilions. Only, he was also set up by Shangguan Xi'er and Feng Shaoyu when they told him where Qin Chen went missing. After that his life/death was not known to outsiders as no one saw him and pill pavilion entered into state of infighting and political struggles. Big part of this setting up his disciple was the fact that Shangguan Xi'er started plotting to take over pill pavilion by setting up spies who were under her Misty Palace as part of her domination of the continent

The reason why Qin Chen was attacked because Xiao Ya tried reporting is simple. She and her master are in original pill pavilion faction. She was already set up by spies in the past which was why she was demoted to 5 kingdoms and after that spies also poisoned her master which is at the story moment here in coma. The guy who was bitchslapped is disciple of one of the spies and the old guy is one of retainers and their goal is to depose local chief alchemist to lessen the provincial support of pill faction in order to make it easier to take over main branch later

You will only learn all ins and outs after he reaches central continent and plot reaches point where you learn the history of ancient war with demons and when current affairs with Misty Palace become obvious. That's like... cough... 300-500 episodes... if lucky

Yeah, he is one of rare MCs that kick ass with arrogance and plot really takes care of the details, so kicking ass makes sense.
